AirTight Networks™, Inc., the leader
in wireless perimeter security, announced today that The Tolly Group has
completed and published a first-ever practical comparison of wireless
Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPSs). In testing three wireless IPSs
against 24 different wireless threat scenarios, only AirTight Networks'
SpectraGuard® Enterprise System was able to detect and classify all of
the threats properly, prevent all of the threats, and locate them
accurately on a floor map.
Highlights of the test results show that AirTight Networks' SpectraGuard
Enterprise system:
-- Detects 100% of the security threats launched against it, while
AirMagnet Enterprise missed 25% and Aruba Mobility Controller missed 30%
-- Prevents 100% of the threats, while AirMagnet Enterprise prevented
half of them, and Aruba prevented only one-third
-- Effectively prevents multiple threats simultaneously from a single
sensor, while the competitive devices did not
-- Continues to scan for new wireless threats even while preventing
active threats, while the other systems did not
-- Creates zero false alarms, unlike AirMagnet Enterprise which threw off
as many false alarms as threats detected
-- Locates wireless threats with a high degree of accuracy - within 4
meters in test scenarios, while the Aruba Mobility Controller did not
converge on a location, and AirMagnet Enterprise was 12 to 40 meters off.
"Test results show clearly that AirTight's SpectraGuard Enterprise is more
effective at detecting wireless security threats and preventing them from
becoming a problem to enterprise users," said Kevin Tolly,
President/CEO/Founder of The Tolly Group. "Further, the product's location
tracking capabilities make it possible to pinpoint wireless trouble spots
with a high degree of accuracy."
SpectraGuard Enterprise is built on AirTight's patent-pending 3 x 3
security model. 3x3 security means that the system:
-- performs the 3 keys of wireless security
-- detects & classifies threats quickly and accurately
-- prevents threats automatically
-- locates threats accurately and immediately
-- using 3 security classification engines
-- positive, stateful device & network awareness
-- signature based analysis
-- behavioral based analysis
This 3 x 3 security model allows AirTight's SpectraGuard products to
deliver true enterprise class threat prevention, while not inundating the
administrator with false alarms or spurious data.
"The Tolly Group has certified what many customers have already figured
out," said Dennis Tsu, vice president of marketing for AirTight Networks.
"AirTight's SpectraGuard solution is simply better at doing what every
wireless IPS system must do -- detect and classify wireless threats, stop
them, and find them. We're pleased to have the results of the Tolly test
in such a simple-to-understand, graphic form."

About SpectraGuard Enterprise
SpectraGuard Enterprise creates a wireless perimeter security zone around
an enterprise -- protecting both the wired and wireless networks from Wi-Fi
threats, including Evil Twin/honey pot APs, MAC spoofing APs and Denial of
Service attacks. The solution also guards against rogue access points,
mis-configured access points, ad hoc connections, unauthorized client
connections, and client mis-associations.
SpectraGuard Enterprise is the industry's only solution that correctly
classifies wireless devices and events; and automatically identifies,
automatically stops, and accurately locates wireless security risks and
attacks.
