Data discovery, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) solutions are essential elements for protection and control of sensitive information. Such solutions must be able to detect the presence of sensitive data in a range of structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data types as appropriate.
The Tolly Group has a long history of work in these areas having published our first DLP test in 2008. Since that time, Tolly has conducted DLP/CASB/Data Disovery projects and published reports for vendors such as IBM, Broadcom, Trend Micro, Symantec, 1Touch.io, Spirion, and RSA/EMC.
A major challenge for solution vendors is to find appropriate datasets vetted by a third-party against which to test for internal development, quality assurance, and external "proof of claims."
The Tolly Group's "Test Data" service is designed to address these needs. As an independent 3rd-party, Tolly is an ideal source for such data.
The Tolly Group develops, curates and maintains an ever-growing set of data that can
be used by data discovery-oriented solutions for both internal and external testing and benchmarking.
The impetus for developing this data was the custom validation testing that Tolly has performed for DLP,
CASB, and Data Discovery vendors.
From its base datasets, Tolly can customize and generate data for a variety of internal and external testing needs.

All test results for vendors using Tolly test data are confidential and would only be released should the vendor request for Tolly to write a public-facing report.

Tolly maintains custody of all test data and charges based on data requirements and usage (i.e., single run, run against dataset for a month, etc.). In cases where the test data is used as part of a custom test, the usage costs are bundled into the project fee.
