Abstract

Test results verified that the Berk-Tek GIGAlite 62.5/125-um multimode fiber-optic cable carries wire speed. Gigabit Ethernet traffic at distances greater than 1 kilometer supports cable runs up to 4.5 times the minimum length specified by the IEEE 802.3 committee in 1000 BASE-SX networks and provides a reliable transmission medium for 1000 BASE-SX and 1000 BASE-LX devices.
