Abstract

FORE Systems, Inc. commissioned The Tolly Group to measure the aggregate switch performance of the ForeRunner ASX-4000 ATM switch when forwarding IP traffic (over AAL-5) consisting exclusively of 40-byte packets.

Testing demonstrated that the ASX-4000 is capable of forwarding an aggregate in excess of 90 million packets per second across 64 OC-12 ATM ports without packet loss.

Provides a wire-speed, non-blocking architecture that equates to zero-loss performance. Supports high-speed IP traffic across the backplane at up to 40Gbps.
