Abstract
Foundry Networks, Inc. commissioned The Tolly Group to evaluate the maximum TCP session-processing rate of its ServerIronXL switch version 5.1.03T12 against Alteon WebSystems’ 180e Web Switch version 5.2.13. Test results show that the ServerIronXL processes more than 60,000 sessions per second in a dual client-port and six server-port configuration, more than double that of Alteon whose results showed a 25,600 sessions per second in the same environment. The ServerIronXL also demonstrated its ability to support more than one million concurrent TCP/IP connections in a single-client, six-server environment and a dual-client, six-server environment. This was significantly better than the Alteon 180e Web Switch that showed it can support 32,000 TCP sessions with one network-port and 64,000 TCP sessions with two network ports.
