Abstract
Tolly Group Report #202115 (March 2002) demonstrates that FineGround Condenser 3.0 sharply accelerates dynamic Web pages and cuts bandwidth without caching or browser changes.
Over Fast Ethernet with 60 users. Baseline pages averaged 292.3 ms; on the third visit through Condenser the same pages loaded in 26.7 ms, a 10 × speedup. Incoming traffic fell from 47 Mbit/s to 0.9 Mbit/s, a 98% savings, while outgoing traffic dropped 82%.
Over a 56 Kbit/s link with 625 users. Baseline pages required 19 990 ms; Condenser’s third visit cut this to 3 013 ms, nearly 7 × faster. Incoming throughput shrank 95 %; outgoing throughput fell 82%.
Scalability gains. With Condenser active the Web server sustained three times more user sessions while still delivering faster page loads.
Conclusion: FineGround Condenser reduces dynamic page response time up to 10 × and trims bandwidth up to 98%, letting enterprises boost Web performance and capacity without modifying sites or clients.
Note: The company was acquired by Cisco Systems in 2005 and integrated into their product line.
