Abstract

Intel Corp. commissioned The Tolly Group to evaluate its TIGPR2U, a rack-mountable, high-performance server, with dual Xeon processors, intended for use in telecommunications networks. For testing purposes, the TIGPR2U was outfitted with Alcatel WAP Gateway 3.0 software, a proxy application with a unique architecture dedicated to the translation of Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) requests into HTTP requests, thereby enabling mobile phone users on a carrier network to access Web services.

The Tolly Group set out to determine the processing rate of the Nx WAP Gateway running over the Intel CGS by measuring the number of URL requests processed on a per-second basis. Testing was performed in June 2003.

Test results show that the Nx WAP Gateway running on the Intel TIGPR2U CGS provides carriers with a high-performance WAP solution. Detailed the test results can be obtained in the free downloadable Test Summary.
