Abstract

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. commissioned The Tolly Group to evaluate its Ubigate iBG3026 Integrated Multi-service IP Switch/Router, a new generation integrated service router supporting LAN/WAN/voice interfaces, stateful firewall, IPSec VPN, Quality of Service, Network Address Translation, as well as VoIP gateway functionality.

Tolly Group engineers measured the zero-loss bidirectional WAN (28xT1 Multilink PPP) throughput across two Samsung Ubigate iBG3026 units with Quality of Service (QoS) and stateful firewall service enabled. Second, engineers measured the bidirectional IPSec VPN throughput for the various encryption methods. Third, engineers measured the maximum bidirectional packet forwarding rate provided by the Ubigate iBG3026 and the maximum bidirectional IP forwarding throughput when ACL or stateful firewall and NAT is enabled. Next, engineers verified the non-blocking Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching for every frame size tested in an eight-port Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) full-mesh scenario using its switch module (ESG-8). Lastly, engineers validated the high system availability and toll-quality voice quality provided by its integrated VoIP gateway. Testing was performed in April 2006.
