Araknis Networks AN-300 Gigabit PoE SwitchPerformance and Features Versus Cisco and Pakedge

Abstract

Fixed-port Gigabit Ethernet switches are traditionally thought of as a commodity where price alone is the key purchasing criterion. However, the dramatic increase in video multimedia traffic, data, and VoIP brings the focus back to performance and functionality.

Araknis Networks commissioned Tolly to evaluate its AN-300 Series Gigabit PoE Switch and compare its performance and functionality to Gigabit Ethernet PoE LAN switches from Cisco Systems and Pakedge. Tests show that the Araknis AN-300 Series PoE switch delivers line-rate throughput of 1Gbps per port across all 24 ports – which is the same performance as the Cisco and Pakedge products – and, on average, demonstrates latency that is lower or equivalent to those competitive switches. Furthermore, the Araknis solution delivers an enterprise- grade feature set equivalent to Cisco and Pakedge, and has a PoE power budget of 328W that delivers up to 13.7W across all 24 ports simultaneously, or 25W to a single port connected via 100m of cable (PoE+).
