Abstract

With voice over IP (VoIP) demand increasing for service providers it is important to have high-performance session border controllers (SBCs) for high-growth peering and access environments.

Sonus Networks commissioned Tolly to evaluate the performance of its Sonus SBC 5200/5210 Session Border Controller (SBC) series in a number of scenarios. Additionally, Tolly was asked to evaluate select availability features of the Sonus gateways.

Tolly found that the Sonus SBC 5210 supports over 63,000 concurrent call sessions. This is more than 1.5X the session capacity claimed by Oracle for their Acme Packets 4500 SBC.
