Abstract

Gandalf commissioned Tolly to benchmark the WAN compression performance of the Gandalf LANLine 5225i Remote Ethernet Bridge and compare that to the performance of: Magnalink, Newport, RND, 3Com, Retix, and Microcom. Testing was performed using a pair of devices connected by a simulated 56Kbit/s WAN data link. 

This replicated a test run by Tolly and published in McGraw-Hill's Data Communications magazine on May 21, 1994.
