Abstract

Standard Microsystems Corp. (SMC) commissioned Tolly to benchmark the Novel Open Data-link Interface (ODI) performance of its TokenCard Elite Master 32 EISA adapter and compare it to the performance to competing NICs from 3Com, IBM, Madge Networks, and Olicom.

The SMC TokenCard Elite Master 32 exhibited industry-leading price/performance. 

In terms of raw throughput at 4,096-byte frames, the relative newcomer SMC was just 3% behind acknowledged performance leaders Madge Networks and Olicom. In fact, SMC's performance was as much as 37% higher than 3Com and 67% higher than IBM.
