Abstract

Gandalf commissioned Tolly to benchmark the WAN compression performance of the Gandalf LANLine 5225i Remote Ethernet Bridge and compare that to the performance of: 3Com, Combinet, Telebit, & CIsco Systems. Testing was performed using a pair of devices connected by a simulated 128Kbit/s WAN data link. 

The Gandalf solution demonstrated the best performance across the various data types tested. Cisco Systems and Telebit did not support compression so their results serve as a baseline for such systems.
