Abstract

 Microsoft Corporation commissioned The Tolly Group to audit large scale testing of Microsoft’s SNA Server 2.1 and Novell’s NetWare for SAA 1.3b.

The tests showed that Microsoft’s SNA Server 2.1 out-performed Novell’s NetWare for SAA 1.3b by maintaining a consistent 3270 file transfer (IND$FILE) time as greater traffic loads were placed on the gateway. File transfer times for the Novell product became longer (i.e. slower) as gateway load was increased.

Microsoft SNA Server 2.1 showed IND$FILE transfer times almost 400% faster than Novell Netware for SAA 1.3b.
