Abstract

Madge Networks commissioned The Tolly Group to conduct basic compatibility testing of their Blue+ 16/4 ISA Token Ring Adapter and Fast Blue drivers with common network operating systems and network applications. The Tolly Group successfully tested three adapter/driver combinations of the Blue+ adapter and an IBM Auto 16/4 ISA adapter with both the Fast Blue drivers and IBM TROPIC drivers, (i.e. the Blue+ adapter with Fast Blue drivers, the Blue+ adapter with IBM drivers and the IBM adapter with Fast Blue drivers). The functionality of these adapter/driver combinations was compared to a baseline using the IBM adapter with its native IBM TROPIC drivers.

Tests illustrated compatibility with a wide range of PC operating systems and communication software systems. Operating systems included DOS v5.0 and v6.2 and IBM OS/2. Applications included Novell NetWare 3.x and 4.x, IBM Communications manager/2, IBM APPC OS/2, IBM PC 3270, IBM TCP/IP, IBM LAN Server, Microsoft Windows for Workgroups, Microsoft Windows NT v3.5, and others.
