Abstract

3Com Corporation commissioned 􏰄􏰄The Tolly Group to demonstrate the effectiveness of 3Com’s Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) product set in two of the most common corporate scenarios: ISDN for remote access, and ISDN for LAN-to-LAN connectivity.

The following solutions were tested:
3Com Impact ISDN External Digital Modem,
3Com Impact ISDN ISA Adapter, AccessBuilder 4000,
AccessBuilder Remote Client, NETBuilder Remote Office 421 and 427

Test results show that the 3Com products offer extensive provisions for effective use of an ISDN BRI connection. 3Com’s ISDN products were deployed in a variety of scenarios to demonstrate the features available for small office/ home office (SoHo) access and LAN- to-LAN routing. The Tolly Group examined ISDN as a backup for leased lines, dial-on-demand, performance, link management, Multilink PPP, and IPX spoofing. 3Com’s Boundary Routing was also tested to demonstrate the simplicity of network management.
