Abstract

IBM Corporation commissioned The Tolly Group to evaluate the performance of token ring ISA adapter/driver combinations from IBM, Madge Networks, and Olicom A/S. The Tolly Group measured the throughput achieved by DOS, OS/2 Warp, and Windows NT Workstation clients running PERFORM3, a Novell benchmarking utility, from a Novell NetWare 4.1 server.

The Tolly Group also measured the throughput and memory consumption of the IBM Turbo 16/4 Token-Ring ISA Adapter and the Madge Smart 16/4 ISA Client Plus using memory-managed DOS ODI drivers while running PERFORM3 from a NetWare 4.1 server. The IBM Turbo 16/4 Token- Ring ISA Adapter was evaluated with IBM LAN Client 2.0 software, and the Madge Smart 16/4 ISA Client Plus with Madge Smart II software.
