IBM Corporation commissioned The Tolly Group to evaluate the performance of token ring PCI adapter/driver combinations from IBM, Madge Networks, Olicom A/S, and 3Com Corporation. The Tolly Group measured the throughput achieved by OS/2 Warp, and Windows NT Workstation clients running PERFORM3, a Novell benchmarking utility, from a Novell NetWare 4.1 server.

The Tolly Group also measured the throughput and memory consumption of the IBM PCI Token-Ring Adapter and the Madge Smart 16/4 PCI Ringnode using memory-managed DOS ODI drivers while running PERFORM3 from a NetWare 4.1 server.
