Abstract

Cabletron Systems commissioned The Tolly Group to quantify the Gigabit Ethernet switching and IP routing performance of the SmartSwitch Router (SSR), an eight-slot switch/router equipped with 14 Gigabit Ethernet ports. The Tolly Group measured the performance of the device with and without features such as secondary addresses, access control lists, and RMON/RMON 2 simultaneously enabled. The SmartSwitch Router was also tested with Cisco Systems, Inc.’s IOS for IP protocol compatibility. Testing was performed in February 1998.
