Abstract

Olicom commissioned Tolly to measure the effect of enhanced network fault tolerance as provided by ClearSession which is a group of software components embedded in Olicom internetworking gear that enables rapid detection of network failures and quick reconvergence around them. Testing involved ATM and Token Ring environments and ATM LANE (LAN Emulation).

Olicom was able to automatically detect network failures and redirect traffic in three seconds or less; enhanced fault tolerance in ATM core, switches, adapters, routers and LANE servers, sustained sessions during catastrophic failures. 

(Olicom had acquired CrossComm Corp in June of 1997 and likely integrated some its technology into ClearSession.)
