Abstract

Multi-vendor lab test of LAN to SNA mainframe 3270 gateways. Products evaluated from Attachmate, DCA, Eicon, IBM, ICOT, NSA, Novell, and Rabbit. Tester's Choice awards went to Attachmate, IBM, and Eicon. 

Solutions evaluated were: Attachmate Extra!, Digital Communications Associates (DCA) Irmalan and Select Communications Workstation, Eicon Technology Access/TIC, ICOT OmniPath, Network Software Associates (NSA) AdaptSNA LAN Gateway, Novell NetWare SNA Gateway, and Rabbit Software RabbitGate II.

Overall, testers found the systems challenging to configure and requiring specific SNA host VTAM configuration changes.
