Abstract
Overview
Bay Networks, Inc. commissioned The Tolly Group to measure the effective data throughput across a “trunk” comprised of four full duplex Fast Ethernet ports grouped into a single logical connection (LAN link aggregation). The
BayStack 350F-HD connected across the trunk to a Sun Microsystems Ultra Enterprise 3000 Server containing an SBus Quad FastEthernet adapter. Sun Microsystems modified Chesapeake Computer
Consultants, Inc.’s Test TCP (“TTCP”) version 1.0 to generate bidirectional traffic streams between the server and up to four SPARCstations. (Note: The test suite was approved by Sun Microsystems.)
Additional testing benchmarked throughput using the Chariot traffic generation tool.
Finally, testing validated session reconvergence in a scenario where one of the four links failed.
