Abstract

Madge Networks commissioned The Tolly Group to compare various aspects of the Madge Presto PCI Token Ring Adapter, the 3Com TokenLink Velocity PCI adapter, the IBM PCI Token-Ring Adapter, and the Olicom Token-Ring PCI/II 16/4 Adapter. The Tolly Group examined the adapter installation process under the Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 workstation environment. Furthermore, The Tolly Group verified client adapter performance in a Novell NetWare 4.1 server environment. 

Various studies have identified support issues as a significant factor in the overall cost-of-ownership of networking hardware. Products that succeed in reducing support requirements deliver additional economic benefits to customers.
